The Friends are a small group of library users who meet regularly on a a quarterly basis and who believe a local library is an essential ingredient for a healthy and thriving local community .
As a group they are involved with a variety of projects and support events that help promote and celebrate West Bromwich Library - as both a modern facility and a historic asset to our town.
Our library was originally a generous gift made to the people of West Bromwich by the famous philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, and the Friends group helps maintain a direct link between the library and our local communities.
However, like the library service itself, the group is always looking to the future. We all must move with the times to ensure the library remains at the cutting edge of delivering high quality local service provision and the Friends are at the forefront of this thinking. In this role the group holds an important collective voice for all local library users and the community in general, to ensure the needs and aspirations of our local communities are considered when library service staff are planning change.
If you are interested in libraries, literature in general or feel that you would like to contribute to the thriving cultural life of West Bromwich and would either like more information about the group or the date for our next meeting then please do get in touch with us through the Contact Us section of this website - we really do look forward to hearing from you soon!
For those wishing to join the group but who may have problems accessing many public buildings there is disabled and pushchair access at the rear of the library.
For anyone thinking of coming along to the next meeting to find out more about our group, the next meeting will be held on Saturday 18th October 2008 at 1.30pm in the Carnegie Meeting Room of the library - you are all very welcome to come along! |
